Travelling to The Bahamas is easier

As of 1 May 2021, travelling to The Bahamas has become significantly easier – paving the way for a further rise in luxury real estate demand. The Bahamas Government has announced an easing of restrictions for travellers coming into the country.

In addition, Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis hopes as more people are vaccinated and adhere to the COVID-19 mitigation protocols, the government will be able to remove emergency powers and end the state of emergency before the 13 August completion date.

After their two-week immunisation period, visitors to The Bahamas who have been fully vaccinated will no longer be required to take a COVID-19 test. Instead, tourists will be expected to provide proof of their date of vaccination before travelling. This is part of the process for applying for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa, which includes the purchase of mandatory COVID-19 health insurance. The Bahamas is currently accepting Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca as valid vaccines. It is also important to note that the travel visa can take up to 48 hours to be processed.

Those who have not been fully vaccinated, however, are still eligible to enter The Bahamas. Travellers must still submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than five days before arrival, along with a rapid antigen test on the fifth day, if their stay is longer than four days.

A Bahamas Travel Health Visa is still required at the time of writing for those who have not been fully vaccinated. Children aged 10 and under are exempt from testing restrictions as well as pilots and travelling airline crews.
