Deep Dive Into The Bahamas’ Real Estate Market

Bahamas Free diving

Effective November 1, 2020, visitors and returning residents to The Bahamas will no longer be required to quarantine upon entry into the country. Now could not be a better time to take advantage of the real estate market.

As new trends begin to influence the way people invest, there will be a significant increase in new opportunities, especially in developing markets such as The Bahamas. Competition for prime real estate in valuable locations with diverse utility will be high. In contrast, generic real estate products will see an increased inventory with extended days on the market and additional buying opportunities at discounted prices.

Technology and innovation will be critical factors in how the landscape changes and how brokerages, sellers, and buyers communicate and succeed in the marketplace.  Our advisors have pooled together their in-depth experience to bring you valuable insight into where to find the opportunities and how to avoid pitfalls.

Dean's Blue Whole, Long Island

The iconic Dean’s Blue Hole is located in a tranquil cove just west of Clarence Town, Long Island.  At 663 feet deep, it is the world’s second deepest Blue Hole after the Dragon Hole in the South China Sea.  Each year, top freedivers descend on the island for the annual Vertical Blue freediving competition, which the New York Times has called the “Wimbledon of Freediving.” In 2018, divers from 23 nations participated and set an unprecedented ten world records, including the deepest dive in the constant weight discipline of 426 feet by Alexey Molchanov of Russia. A constant weight dive is when the freediver descends and ascends using only their fins and arms, and only a single hold of the rope is permitted to stop the descent and start the ascent.

Like the amazing divers who plunge into Dean’s Blue Hole every year, our team will take a deep dive into the best communities, locations, views, beaches, and settlements to help you explore and discover where to find the real estate opportunities.

Along the way, we encourage you to visit and explore the joy of discovery that will lead down dirt paths and fishing adventures, beach days, and amazing local food.  The greatest part of a Bahamas real estate investment is living and enjoying the islands’ culture, history, and natural beauty.

“The narrative in our community, certainly amongst the financial and investment professionals, is how incredibly well-positioned we are for the current state of the world. We are easy to get to, naturally beautiful, stable government and economy and peaceful.  For those who live here, the real estate opportunities are easily accessible and relatively easy to acquire.

For those who don’t live here, the opportunities to live here are great with the now ‘Extended Stay‘ programme and the Permanent Residency programme that has been in place quite successfully for many years. There are also diverse opportunities for different lifestyles throughout the islands, whether you want something urban and dynamic or more quiet and intimate.”
